World geothermal congress special & Excellence award
Each year, Geothermal Canada awards a Student Scholarship for academic excellence and a Student Conference Award
1. GEOTHERMAL CANADA STUDENT CONFERENCE SUPPORT: World geothermal Congress
This year, World Geothermal Congress will support 3 students who have submitted abstracts to WGC26 in Calgary!
Geothermal Canada will cover the round-trip flight from the students’ Canadian university to Calgary, AB.
Conditions:
Students must have submitted an abstract to WGC2026
Students must support WGC as a volunteer during the conference (approx. 4 to 8 hours of volunteer time during the week; conference registration is covered by WGC for all volunteers)
To apply, please send your WGC abstract and confirmation of submission to: fiona.chapman@inrs.ca. Deadline: October 15th, 2025.
2. GEOTHERMAL CANADA STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP
This is an award to recognize the best student research project that will advance understanding of geothermal resources or resource production. One student will be awarded $1000 and a one-year membership to Geothermal Canada.
A research proposal must be submitted to Geothermal Canada by December 31st, 2025. The proposal must not exceed 300 words, and must outline the student’s current geothermal research at a Canadian institution. A Canadian research focus is suggested, but not mandatory. Following the proposal, please provide a comprehensive list of your contributions in 2026 (publications, conferences, outreach activities, proposals, pilot projects etc…)
The proposal may be in English or French. Winners will be announced January 2026.
